Pastor David Barker
A member of River Valley Baptist Church since 1988, David J. Barker brought the first children to occupy the nursery and Sunday school classes to the 3-month-old church founded by Pastor Norman Aabye, which at that point was meeting in the Lincoln Hayes School, Ansonia, Connecticut.
Throughout his membership, Dave completed several courses at White Oak Baptist Institute, River Valley Baptist Institute, New England School of the Bible, and the Online Baptist College of America. On April 29, 2008, the church ordained Dave as one of her deacons, an office he held until October 20, 2013, when, after an unanimous vote, he was ordained pastor of River Valley Baptist Church.(The former pastor of many years, Christopher Camp, was sent out with blessings to begin a new work for the Sandy Hook area of Connecticut.)
Born and raised in the Valley, David and his wife, Marianne, were married in 1977, and have eight children, and several grandchildren.
